The RK MacDonald Nursing Home Foundation consists of volunteer directors from Antigonish Town and County. Each director typically serves a three-year term with the option to be appointed for a second three-year term. The President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer are elected as officers of the Board by the directors at the Annual General Meeting in June.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. from September through June at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home.
Along with volunteering as a director of the Board, there are options for interested persons to work with one of the available committees of the Board:
- Public Relations Committee
- Fund-Raising Committee
- Finance and Investment Committee
Anyone wishing to be considered as a director and/or a member of a committee, need only contact:

We look forward to hearing from you to serve in whatever capacity fits with your circumstances. The Board is committed to the Mission Statement of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home: “Providing loving, dignified, and excellent care in a home-like environment that enables all people to live full and abundant lives”.
The role of the Foundation Board is to help to supply the extras that enrich the lives of our residents. We plan, develop, and implement fund-raising activities such as our annual Lights of Love campaign. Monies raised are applied to projects, brought to the Board’s attention, which are not normally provided through the daily operations of the facility. Field trips to Keppoch, bringing in entertainers, building the gazebo, the memory garden, curtains, furniture, physical aides, and many other ideas which contribute to the happiness, care, and comfort of our residents are part of the joy we get to spread as directors. Come and join us!
